How Likely is it That You Get a Computer virus?

1 in 6 people have been infected by a virus before and every year around 317 million computers are infected. Computer viruses usually cost companys £47 billion per year. This is why you need to stay safe especially if you own an expensive gaming PC, you dont want all of your money to go down the drain!

What to Watch Out For

Look out for fake download buttons. These can either direct you to a dangerous website because they are actually ads disguised as download buttons for somthing you are trying to download. You should always watch out for risky and spooky links. For instance, if someone you dont know has put up a link in a youtube comments section they could get your ip adress when you click on that link by using an ip logger and with you ip people can find where you live, carry out a denial of service attack and even take control of your device. You should also try to look out for strange emails. Most of the time these emails will just be filtered out as spam but if an email tells you to click on a link for something you did not ask for and/or its from someone you dont know then block the sender and delete the email. Other emails can be sent from people that you know and they tell you to click on a link for somthing fishy or odd and they also say something like: "forward this to 10 people!" then ask if the person has sent that email themselves beause their email could have been hijacked and they are asking you to send the email to many people because that will spread the virus around. If the person says that they have recieved that email and are forwarding it because they were old to then try to find the origin of that email and ask the initial sender if they have sent that and if not then they could have had their email hijacked. Also watch out for scam pop ups because these will usually have loud audio that says you need to call a toll free number or your important information will be stolen

Software You Can Use to Protect Yourself

Try to make sure you have a VPN because then people will not be able to get your ip adress and you can safely browse the web anonamously. You should also have an antivirus and you can get these very cheap here
